Please try not to worry and cause yourself more stress before your operation. MH is a rare disorder and if there have been no family records of this disorder, the chances are likely that you will be fine. If there have been family cases reported then you should inform the hospital before the operation. Surgeons are fully aware of MH today and they would be able to respond to any case very quickly, which greatly reduces the risk of death.

MH is an inherited disease which is known to be dominant. It is hard to know whether your child maybe a sufferer or not, but it is important that if your child ever needs to go under anaesthesia, the surgeon is fully aware.

Yes, it acts quickly on the Ryanodine receptors to prevent the release of calcium whiich ultimately prevents increased acidosis and respiratory distress.

 MH is not transmittable via the blood, so there is no problem being a blood donor.  Nor is there a problem if you want to be to be an organ donor as MH is not a condition of internal organs.
